Career Scope
India has already emerged as a world-class knowledge hub. Together with being a leader in global IT outsourcing, India is slowly emerging as a leader in R&D outsourcing also. However, a number of factors have prevented many world-class companies from establishing their R&D units in India. It is projected that there would be a huge demand for people with advanced degrees in computer science in the niche areas of R&D and product development. There are plenty of job opportunities available, after completing M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, in both public and private sector units. The candidates can also pursue higher education after M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering by opting to do doctoral programs.
Ph.D
The R&D center has been established in the department to take up research projects and also to cater to the needs of faculty, who are doing their research work. Students are also involved in research activities with the faculty. The research center of Computer Science and Engineering which was started in the year 2009 is recognized by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).
Skills Involved
Students of this course develop excellent skills in various programming languages beyond curriculum to meet industry expectations. They are also given hands on training with various operating systems. They acquire unique skills to design, develop and to find solutions of the highest quality and standards to resolve software problems and issues. Special skills which are required for scientific and research applications are also developed here. Presentation and communication skills in this branch of engineering is an additional factor which helps the students to avail numerous job opportunities in India and abroad.
