SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Guest Lecture on Overview of NoSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra & Neo4j

The Department of CSE organised a guest lecture on the topic “Overview of NoSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra & Neo4j” for 4th semester-students on 26th March 2026 from 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Falconry Hall. The session was delivered by Dr. Jaya R, Data Science Lead and Faculty at Great Learning, India. She provided a comprehensive introduction to NoSQL databases, explaining how they differ from traditional relational database systems in terms of structure, scalability, and data handling approaches.

The lecture explored the core concepts and use cases of popular NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB, Cassandra, and Neo4j, offering clarity on document-based, wide-column, and graph-based database models. Dr. Jaya illustrated real-world applications of these systems across industries, helping students understand when and why NoSQL solutions are preferred.

The engaging examples and demonstrations enriched student learning and strengthened their conceptual understanding of modern data storage technologies. The session encouraged analytical thinking by showcasing how different NoSQL models address varying data challenges in distributed systems. Students actively participated, asked insightful questions, and showed keen interest in the practical applications discussed.

Overall, the lecture proved highly informative and beneficial, broadening students’ knowledge of emerging database technologies and their relevance in today’s data-driven world.
