Workshop on Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications for Rehabilitation
A workshop on “Augmented and Virtual Reality Applications for Rehabilitation” was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 29/04/2026. The session was conducted by Ms Yasmeen M S, Consultant Engineer at Sp4 Ameya Innovation Labs. It was attended by interested 4th-Semester students from all five sections.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to React Native and build foundational knowledge in AR/VR technologies. The session began with an overview of React Native, covering concepts such as component-based UI design, navigation, and state management. Participants were also introduced to the fundamentals of AR/VR, including their history, working principles, and real-world applications.
The hands-on session included the installation of Node.js, Expo, and Firebase integration. Students actively developed interactive UI components and implemented features such as real-time data handling and user authentication. A live demonstration guided participants in building a basic social media application with posts, likes, and comments.
Participants also explored AR/VR applications through a simple game developed using Python and shared their own innovative project ideas. The workshop further addressed the challenges and future potential of AR/VR technologies while highlighting their relevance in the industry. Overall, the session was engaging and informative, motivating students to explore innovative projects in AR/VR and mobile application development.
