INNOVATION TECHNIQUES-LEARNING THROUGH ARGUMENTATION
Introduction
Argumentation helps students attend to conflicting ideas, which can deepen their learning. Since it is open to all, it allows other students also to refine their ideas.
Methodology
- In the classroom, teachers spark meaningful discussion by encouraging students to ask open-ended questions, re-state remarks in more scientific language, develop and use models to construct explanations
- The students are given a topic for Group Discussion, for which they form teams, for and against in technical/general discussions
Expected Outcome
- When students argue in scientific ways, they learn how to take turns, listen actively, and respond constructively to others
- It allows students to refine their ideas
