SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

WorkshopDesigning a Social Media App with React Native

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted a hands-on workshop on March 28th, 2025, on designing a social media app with React Native. Mr. Muralitharan G, Senior Technical Lead at Emids Technologies, led the session for the sixth-semester students. The workshop introduced React Native’s features, setup, and advantages for cross-platform app development. Students learned component-based UI Design, State Management, Navigation, and Firebase Integration. Hands-on exercises covered installing Node.js, Expo, and implementing authentication and real-time data fetching.

A live demonstration guided students in building a basic social media app with posts, likes, and comments. Industry experts shared best practices in UI/UX design and app performance optimization. Students actively participated in coding exercises, debugging, and Q&A sessions. The interactive format encouraged skills such as problem-solving and experimentation with React Native. Attendees appreciated the practical learning experience and expressed interest in further exploring modern app development.
